GRANTORS OF AIWC
We at AIWC would like to express our sincere appreciation to the many
foundations whose support assists us in providing care for southern Alberta's
injured and orphaned wildlife.
A great big thank you to Neil and Veronica who have been so kindly donating all the vet services since AIWC began in 1993. This includes x-rays, surgery and all their expertise. Many times, they have made themselves available to injured wildlife outside of their normal clinic hours as well.
And more big thanks to the additions of the AIWC volunteer veterinarian crew, Roberto, Suzy, and Jody! Thank you for always going above and beyond well outside of 'normal' work hours.
ALBERTA SPORTS RECREATION PARKS & WILDLIFE FOUNDATION:
In 2009 Alberta Sports Recreation Parks & Wildlife Foundation provided funding for a new PR display booth. This booth will help increase AIWC's profile in the community and save AIWC volunteers plenty of precious time and energy. We also wish to recognize that several years ago Alberta Sports Recreation Parks & Wildlife Foundation funded the salary for our program director in addition to funding the purchase of a large intensive care unit. As AIWC has not had these units previously, we hope to save more animals lives than we could before. Thank you for you continued support!
THE CALGARY FOUNDATION:
The Calgary Foundation has recently provided the funding necessary for AIWC's Calgary and area Wildlife Control Hotline to begin it's operation and the additional support for the second year of business. Thank you for this very generous donation!
SHELL ENVIRONMENTAL FUND:
Shell has been a supporter of AIWC many times over the years. They have provided funds for several of our enclosures, including the large outdoor raptor flight cage and the new large outdoor waterfowl enclosure. Through their volunteer involvement fund and the work of Shell's staff who volunteer at AIWC funds have been provided for the purchase of a snowblower and a small intensive care unit. Thanks a lot for your ongoing support.
NOVOPHARM:
In 2008 Novopharm made numerous pharmaceutical donations for our veterinarians to use in our wildlife hospital. Thank you for your generous support!
PENNWEST ENERGY:
In 2009 PennWest Energy provided funding for the purchase of new surgicial equipment. This equipment was not used by AIWC in the past, and with it we hope to save more animal lives than before. Thank you for this very generous donation!
CANADIAN WILDLIFE FOUNDATION:
The Canadian Wildlife Foundation recently provided funding for the purchase of new audio-visual equipment. This equipment will be used during our many educational presentations at schools, public events and at the AIWC center. We thank you.
TD FRIENDS OF THE ENVIRONMENT:
TD Friends of the Environment Foundation granted AIWC $45,000 to build our new mammal enclosure! This is the fourth time that The TD Friends of the Environment Foundation has helped us. They gave us a grant when our center was first being constructed in 1993. Then they funded $10,000 for the purchase of hospital cages for the clinic. Most recently they funded our waterfowl brooder room that has improved our success rate with baby waterfowl dramatically.
This grant marks a significant milestone for the Calgary Chapter of the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation as well. Since the Foundation's inception in 1990, the Calgary Chapter has now contributed over $1,058,892 to 190 environmental projects in Calgary and surrounding area. Nationally, TD Friends of the Environment Foundation has given over $25 million to over 11,000 environmental projects, from school yard naturalization programs to wildlife preservation and river cleanups.
AIWC is most grateful to TD/Canada Trust and its clients who support the Friends of the Environment Foundation. Their generous support over the past 9 years has contributed significantly to AIWC's ability to continue to provide top quality rehabilitation for southern Albertas wildlife.
ALBERTA ECOTRUST:
Alberta Ecotrust has recently provided funds to send the Director of AIWC's Wildlife Control Hotline to Toronto for exclusive training from AAA Wildlife Control. Our Director was the first in Alberta to be certified as a Wildlife Control Technician.
